12 Days of Gift Guides - Day 7: Gifts for Kids Under 6

On the 7th day of GIFT GUIDES Jenny gave to me, a list for kids and babies!

With seven children, ranging from ages 4 - 19, I live this list! As a mother with a Master’s Degree in Education/ Child Development, I try to focus on gifts that help in developing problem solving skills, assist with fine/gross motor skills, encourage imaginative play and foster kindness and empathy.

Birth to Pre-School Ages

1. Busy Baby Activity Chair - This exclusively designed chair has plenty to keep your little one busy, including a mirror, rattle, squeaky toy and more. Best of all, it's made from soft but sturdy foam, so it's safe as can be for even the busiest of babies.

2. Folding Bassinet - Perfect for travel or for a grandparent gift. This baby crib can be folded with one click and can be quickly stored within 5 seconds, making it easy to travel. The bassinet has 5 levels of height adjustment making it perfect for any sort of environment.

3. W4 Luxe 4-Passenger Multifunctional Stroller Wagon - This is the Bentley of wagons but it is the most effective and hearty wagon we’ve ever used. Although it can seat 4, it is spacious enough to carry bags and other gear comfortably. This would be a great gift for a family with several young chlidren or a grandparent.

4. Inny Bin - A 2020 Toy of the Year Finalist! An incredibly unique shape-exploration experience!
The six chunky shape blocks are each designed with fascinating textures that are sure to thrill the fingers. There's a cube, a diamond, a sphere, a triangle, a flower, and the happy Fat Brain logo... a perfect little sorting box.

5. Forest Friends Discovery Tree - A year after year best seller! Climb up into a whole ecosystem full of sensory exploration excitement! Spin and slide the snail, butterfly, and ladybug blocks all along the winding cutout tracks. Just on the other side, those same blocks are apples, tumbling down the branches!
There are vibrant gears that spin together, an owl in a birdhouse that flips to become a flower, a spiraling wire full of colorful beads that slide, plus two vibrant doors that open and shut, both illustrated with fun critters on one side and their lovely homes on the other.

6. Guac-’n’ Roll Guitar - A little bit country and totally guac & roll! This adorable avocado guitar inspires mini musicians with strumming riffs, fun tunes and more! Easy for little hands to hold-just spin the avocado's "pit" or press the light-up buttons and guac out!

7.. Squigz - One of my favorite toys all of time because my toddler plays with it but my older kids love them too. This multi-sensory toy works on a variety of skills, a favorite for OT/PT. These toys are made of silicone and have a suction cup that can be used to connect to other Squigz or different surfaces such as tables, trays, windows, mirrors, dry erase boards, etc. When you pull them off, the toy makes a satisfying popping sound. These toys can be used to target fine motor strengthening, visual motor coordination, sensory processing and assist with tactile (feel of them), visual (bright colors), auditory (pop noise) development.

8.. YBike PEWI ELITE - The best little foot bike we’ve ever owned! Pewi's friendly design has curved legs and caster wheels that spin 360 degrees..The sturdy casters won't mark floors, and kids can start using it as young as 9 months; they can keep riding it until they're 36 months, or 44 pounds! (But my 7 year old still spins around on it. )Kids work on balance, posture, coordination, spacial awareness, and build confidence in their walking movements.

9. Pony Cycle - Hands down …my favorite gift for young children because it never gets old and its exercise! Our PonyCycle is three years old and the kids still ride it. Asher rode the MEDIUM at 18 months. I can ride it. Don’t fall for the imitation one… you want Pony Cycle. I also prefer to order off a children’s store so you don’t get stuck with one coming from overseas. Wheels won’t scratch floors.

Instead of riding on rocking horses which keep the rider in one spot, the PonyCycle allows kids to ride wherever they want, like riding on a real horse. No batteries or electricity required! Easy to steer with the handlebars and kids can go as fast or slow as they wish. Kids make the horse's legs and head move forward and backward, moving the horse forward in a galloping motion. Good exercise for both indoor and outdoor usage, practicing balance, activity and coordination.

10. Monster Plush Jumper - An indoor trampoline that will help keep little ones busy. Under $100. The Monster Jumper incorporates vital safety features such as a padded handrail and a soft padded cover that reaches all the way to the floor.

11. Seesaw with 360 Degree Spinning Teeter Totter Bouncer - I love these swivel, bouncing see saws. The handles provide a good, soft grasping so that your children do not lose balance and fall off. It can spins 360 degrees. Equipped with the soft ball cushions, this seesaw can minimize impact and maximize bounce.

12. Boho Rainbow Gate - These Boho inflatable bounce houses sell out so quickly. You can pre-order for the next shipment. If you can grab one, do so…or resell! High demand!

13. Flower Garden STEM Activity - With a variety of petals and leaves, children can create different flower combinations. It helps to improve hand-eye coordination and cultivates the flower knowledge. Great indoor -outdoor toys for 3-6 years old.

14. Picasso Tiles 100 Piece 3D Color Magnetic Building Block STEM Set - My four year old’s “VERY BEST FAVORITE” when asked. Encourage your child to explore colors, geometrical shapes and magnetism. They're constructed of durable clear plastic and come in a variety of fun square and triangle-shaped tiles. Held together with magnets, these Picasso tiles PT 100 building block sets let kids easily construct cars, trains, buildings and more as big as they'd like. Ages 3 and up.

15. Art Table WITH STORAGE - Style and function…the perfect design combo. This kids furniture set comes with 1 table and 2 chairs. It's kids sized for kids ages 1 to 7. Then, with help from a grownup, stack the ramps to create a vertical Skyway that stands over 34 inches tall! 19. CoComelon Deluxe Interactive JJ Doll - If your child loves CoComelon, this interactive JJ Doll is a must-have. It seems to be the toy of the year. You feed him, he talks back, his stomach gurgles, and he laughs. For a less expensive option, there is the learning JJ doll.

20. My First Foam Pogo Jumper - My kids still love this! It's a pogo stick — reinvented! Even kids with not-so-hot skills can find their balance on this toy. It can be used indoors and outdoors, too, thanks to its foam material. The only thing your kid will have to do is jump and laugh.
